Assassin's Creed (2007)
It's fitting the first instance of leaked information ahead of an Assassin's Creed installment came ahead of the very first game in the series. The Assassin's Creed leak came into frame courtesy of an April 2006 trademark filing at the U.S. Patent Office, the world was introduced to the name "Assassin's Creed," for the first time. Of course, even before this tip, there was already mounting evidence around the idea of a Ubisoft game centered around assassins.Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (2010)
After a successful launch of Assassin's Creed 2 without leak, Ubisoft's follow-up first came to light thanks to the discovery of a registered domain name for "Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood."Assassin's Creed Revelations (2011)
Almost a year to the day since the existence of Brotherhood was discovered, members of the NeoGAF community managed to extract information from a Ubisoft Facebook post that outed the existence of Assassin's Creed Revelations, along with the game's logo.Assassin's Creed 3 (2012)
[ignvideo url="http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/03/01/ign-daily-fix-030112"] Hot off the heels of AC: Revelations' release, news of the next installment in Ubisoft's series was already leaking out. Thanks to a single image pulled from Best Buy's internal employee news, the leaked Assassin's Creed 3 information confirmed the title, introduced the newest protagonist, and strongly implied a Revolutionary War setting.Assassin's Creed Liberation (2012)
The then PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed Liberation had its existence leaked right before its likely reveal at E3 2012. Thanks to a NeoGAF user getting their hands on an early issue of Game Informer with the game's first details, including the character, setting, and release date.Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (2013)
[ignvideo url="http://www.ign.com/videos/2013/02/26/news-assassins-creed-iv-uncovered"] While news of a new Assassin's Creed coming in 2013 starring a new hero in a new era was common knowledge, a photo of a poster revealing Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag and the new pirate theme leaked online mere days before the promotional material was intended to go live.Assassin's Creed Liberation HD (2014)
Having the distinction of being the only single game on this list to be leaked twice, this time as the console port of the then-Vita-exclusive, Assassin's Creed: Liberation HD was outed in a photo as part of a larger collection of yet-to-be-announced Ubisoft games. The image quickly hit NeoGAF and was lent credence by the fact other games in that photo had been released, or were part of existing franchises in development.Assassin's Creed Unity (2014)
[ignvideo url="http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/03/19/two-assassins-creed-games-allegedly-coming-this-fall"] Another year, another first-quarter leak of the next installment in the Assassin's Creed franchise. This time, it was a bit of a two-for, with Assassin's Creed Unity leaked thanks to screenshots and a logo surfacing and proliferating across the web. In these images we learned the game's supposed title, the Parisian setting and era, and the inclusion of the new downward parkour feature. Alongside this reveal was a reference to another Assassin's Creed game being launched in the same year for last-gen console, possibly codenamed Comet.Assassin's Creed Rogue (2014)
What was initially discovered as codename Comet was eventually confirmed to be Assassin's Creed Rogue, serving as 2014's Assassin's Creed specifically for last-gen consoles. Thanks to the anonymous sources that leaked Assassin's Creed Rogue information, we learned the game would take place in North America, feature nautical exploration and star a playable Templar.Assassin's Creed Syndicate (2015)
[ignvideo url="http://www.ign.com/videos/2014/12/02/assassins-creed-victory-has-been-leaked-ign-news"] What by this point had become an annual tradition, Kotaku leaked information that pegged the 2015 Assassin's Creed installment as Assassin's Creed Victory. A short time later Ubisoft confirmed to IGN the leak was legitimate, and the game that was actually titled Assassin's Creed Syndicate, would be unveiled at a later date.Assassin's Creed Origins (2017)
A leak in early 2016 pointed to the series taking a year off, with the next Assassin's Creed's next entry releasing in 2017. The leak also said that it would take place in Egypt. Then in May 2017, a screenshot leaked confirming the Egyptian location. Of course, Assassin's Creed Origins was officially revealed a few weeks after that at E3 2017, eventually releasing in October 2017 to critical acclaim.Assassin's Creed Odyssey (2018)
While it seemed like E3 2018 would finally be the one that Ubisoft got to surprise us with a new Assassin's game, the title and theme of Assassin's Creed Odyssey was leaked via a promotional keychain just a week before E3.Assassin's Creed: "Ragnarok" (unconfirmed, release date unknown)
Which brings us to the latest chapter in The Big Book of Assassin's Creed Leaks: recently, screenshots of what appear to be listings for "Assassin's Creed: Ragnarok" on Amazon and Gamestop were posted on Reddit. The information has not been confirmed by Ubisoft and should be taken with a grain of salt since the listings were "removed" before anyone could corroborate them (and images of that nature are simple enough to forge), but the title does fit in line with a potential hint at a viking-themed Assassins Creed that appeared last year</a>.
