The International 19, this year’s flagship Dota 2 tournament, hit nearly $6 million of prize pool funding within the first 24 hours, breaking the record set by last year’s tournament.
The prize pool, which at the time of writing sits at just over $8 million, is raised through sales of The International Battle Pass. 25% of each Battle Pass sale goes towards the prize pool.
As noted by Dota 2 insider Wykrhm Reddy on Twitter, the first 24 hours of the Battle Pass being on sale dwarfed TI18’s prize pool by $1.7million. Currently, this year’s International is 30% ahead of last year’s at the same stage.
