Nintendo Switch Online, the paid online service coming to the Nintendo Switch tomorrow, will not require an always-on internet connection to play its included NES downloadable titles, and will let users play those downloaded games offline for up to seven days.
Revealed on the official Nintendo Switch Online FAQ on the Nintendo of America website (as well as Nintendo's UK website), the complimentary NES games that come with the service aren’t tethered to an active internet connection. While users will naturally need to be online in order to download the games, they won’t have to fret about not being able to play these games while on a morning commute, or while going camping for the weekend.
